The characters in the clip characterize "not letting go" as "bumping with reality". What a colorful characterization!

On motivation

How true. It is also true that the same said people were not taught how to understand their motivations. And that clearly seeing a skewed motivational pattern in somebody else does not necessarily teach one about his/her own motivations.

On understanding genders

The story actually was a very good read.
